 We did a practical way of learning a plant life cycle... Grow a plant and instill a sense of learning in the kids...This was they learn easily and remember it well.. 

I have used methi plant for this as the seeds are obtained easily...

Learn Colour names

          My daughter has been learning colour names now in both Kannada and English language... So I did decided to make this more fun by imprinting Ladies finger...

Things needed:

Ladies finger

Paints

White sheet

Method:

Write the names of colours in both Kannada and English... 

Ask your kid to dip the ladies finger in paint and print on the paper where the colour is mentioned.

As they paint they learn colour names..🙂🙂

Identifying letters...

     My daughter is learning both Kannada and Hindi starting this academic year. It can be little bit confusing for the kids to identify letters when they are learning new language and that too when two languages are involved..

So to make it little easier, we have been doing a simple activity everyday.

My daughter needs to identify the letters that she has learnt till now and circle those letters. Every day one page.

You can find any magazine or a cutting from a news paper. Once they complete learning many alphabets, u can also ask them to identify swaras or vyanjanas in the page.

This helps kids to keep identifying the alphabets and helps to remain in their mind easily..

Languages become easier the more you come in contact with them...Hence this activity.

I hope it helps many parents out there...

Skip a Step and Count

 This activity also helps kids to learn skip counting. We tried it a little differently. We live to skip a step when climbing stairs right.. I have used the same method to learn skip counting here.

Things needed:

Cardboard

White sheet

Marker pens

Colour sheets

Glue

Wool

Button

Method:

Stick the white sheet to the cardboard. Cut thin strips of colours and stick them resembling steps.

Write the numbers from 1 to 15 on it.

Thread a button with wool and attach it to the board along with the steps. Draw a girl and attach her to the button.

The girl is ready to climb steps now 🙂

Making Homemade Hair Oil

When we looked at Rapunzel hair... My daughter had a question... How to have such beautiful and long hair. So we decided to make a homemade Hair oil with all the good ingredients that will help us get such beautiful hair as Rapunzel...

Spoons in the Bottle

A fun game to play with the kids...

Things needed:

Spoons 

Bottle / Jar

Ladle - 2

Method:

Place an empty bottle at a distance.

We need two players to play this game. Both of them need to hold the ladle in hand together.  Balance a spoon on the ladles and carefully drop it in the jar. Check the video...

Kids will enjoy this activity... You can also use steel spoons if plastic ones are not available...

Find the Hidden Sentence

Things needed:

White sheet

Sketchpens

Method:

Choose some simple sentences based on the age of the kid.

Create the boxes for the alphabets to fit in.

Draw pictures that help in guessing the alphabets. Like here I have drawn the pictures that have the first letter to be written in the box.

Let the kids analyze the picture, guess the alphabet and write them in the box. Once they are done they need to read the sentence.

This activity improves their vocabulary.

Understanding Rubix Cube

Things needed:

White sheet

Rubix Cube

Method:

Draw the faces of Rubix cube on the paper.

Ask your kid to colour all the faces of Rubix cube on the paper as shown in picture.

Then let them count all the colours one by one... The no of all colours should match no 9.

They will learn that Rubix cube has 6 colours and each colour comes 9 times..

Picture Addition

Fun way to learn addition.. Let the kids learn that addition is coming together..

Method:

Draw as shown in the picture. Let the kids analyse and do the addition.

Easy method... I have given few pictures. You can add more things to it..

Mirror Image...

Things needed::

White sheet
Sketchpens
Small mirror

Method:

Draw few butter flies and draw some patterns over them on one side..

Ask your kid to observe the image by holding the mirror against it.

Then let them draw the reflected image on the other side.

This increases their observing capacity..

Girl on the Hilltop

Easy sponge painting and paper frock craft making for kids...

Things needed:

Paper sheet ( white, 2 colour sheets)

Glue

Scissors

Earbuds

Sponge

Paints (blue, green)

Sketchpens

Pencil

Method:

Draw a hilltop and a tree over it.

Draw a girl next to the tree. Using earbuds paint the tree green.

Next using sponge paint the hilltop green and sky blue.

Now colour the branches of the tree brown.

Using the two craft sheet, cut the strips as shown in the picture.

Stick the dress to the girl as shown in the video.

Complete the picture with more elements as you wish to make it more beautiful.

We used masking tape to secure the paper do that it's easy to sponge paint.

Dominoes Number Matching...

Things needed:

White sheet

Sketchpens

Method:

Write a combination of numbers and dominoes as shown in the picture. 

Ask your kid to write the matching number or dominoes. If there is number replace it with dominoes and vice versa..

Learn Opposites with Colours

Things needed:

White sheet

Sketch pens

Method:

Write the opposite words randomly on a white sheet.

Ask your kid to find the pair of opposite words and circle them with the same colour.

Fun way to learn opposite words.

If you don't have much colours you can also use match the following method to learn them.

Things required:

White sheet

Method:

I have made front and top view of cuboids here. Ask your kid to match them.

You can explain them the concept with any object. Just show an object and ask them to see it from top and then side ways. Now ask them to analyse the same with these colours and match.

You will be surprised with their analysis.

You can also play this with different objects at home like lunch box, water bottle, plate ,toys etc.
